ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Presentation language and time

English is the official language of ESMAC 2023, all presentations must be delivered in English.

PowerPoint presentations always accompany oral presentations. All speakers are entirely responsible for the presentation content (order, graphics etc…). Once on-site please make sure to verify that the name of the room and the time of your presentation/assigned session have not changed.

The time reserved for each presentation: 10 minutes (7 minutes for talk + 3 minutes for discussion)

Authors are asked to follow these assigned times strictly.

Presentation format

Please prepare your presentation using an up-to-date version of Microsoft PowerPoint; older versions are also supported. The screens’ aspect ratio will be 16:9 (Olympia Hall) and 4:3 (Attica and Templars Hall). Be cautious, there is a different ratio in the Olympia Hall(16:9). So, If you are speaking in both rooms during the meeting, adjust your presentation accordingly. Please note that Apple Keynote and Prezi presentations are not supported.

 

Supported file types:

· Presentation: TXT, DOC, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPA, PPTA, PPTX, PDF

· Video: AVI, MPG, MKV, MOV, MP4, WMV

· Audio: WMA, MP3, WAV

· Pictures: JPG, GIF, BMP, TIF

 

When saving your final presentation to a USB stick please make sure to include your video files and all links to these multimedia files.

Authors can use their own presentation or use the ppt. template available here for the 16:9 presentation and here for the 4:3 presentation.

 

Depositing the presentation

Your presentation must be handed over to the personnel in the LECTURE ROOM with a USB stick, as far in advance as possible but at least 15 MINUTES before the start of the entire session where the presentation is to be displayed. The presentation for an early morning the session should be handed over the evening before.

In the lecture room

All speakers are requested to be present in the lecture room for 10 minutes before the session starts to meet with the session chairs. Please, do not come at the last minute with your own computer into the lecture room: you will NOT BE ABLE to connect it.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

The Poster Area will be located in Kallirhoe Hall.

Poster dimensions

Please make sure to mount your poster on the poster board with the number corresponding to the number assigned to your poster presentation.

Standard poster dimensions of printed posters are 90 cm wide and 120 cm high (portrait). Your poster must not exceed the recommended size. The organizers will provide suitable fixing materials and onsite assistance will be available to help you to display your poster.

 

Mounting your poster

The poster Area will be open for poster mounting as of:

· Wednesday 20 September, from 19:30

· Thursday 21 September, from 7:30

Poster presentation

Poster presentations have been divided into 2 sections:

 1. section: Lunch & Posters I. Thursday, 21 September, 13:10 – 14:15

2. section: Lunch & Posters II. – Friday, 22 September, 13:10 – 14:15

The poster authors in the first section (Groups 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13) are asked to stand next to their poster during lunch on Thursday and those in the second section (Groups 3, 7, 8, 11, 12) are asked to stand next to their poster during lunch on Friday.

However, the viewing of the posters by the meeting attendees will be happening during coffee breaks as well.

On-site support, poster area map and orientation signs will be provided.

 

Removing your poster

All materials must be removed by the owner of the poster by the end of the programme on Saturday 23 September by 14:00 at the latest.

Posters left behind will be automatically removed and disposed of.

 

Tips for preparing your poster

  • Content: Use a short descriptive title, full name of contributing authors, author’s affiliation.
  • Make your message clear: Highlight your AIM and CONCLUSION on the poster using bold or colored fonts
  • Be brief: Use bullet points and only the most relevant text, 200-300 words is more than enough for the main text!
  • Picture and graphic: Particular attention should be paid to the resolution of pictures and photos. As a rule of thumb, use at least 300dpi resolution. Make use of colour and graphics. At least 3 pictures or figures are recommended to graphically show your study design and results.
  • Prepare a pitch: Know how to explain the main message of your work in 1 minute, making use of the pictures and figures on your poster.
