Dear ESMAC Members, Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the organising committee of the annual meeting of the European Society for Movement Analysis in Adults and Children (ESMAC), it is a pleasure to welcome you to the ESMAC 2023 annual meeting in Athens, Greece, from September 18 till 23, 2023.

We plan an exciting scientific programme for a multidisciplinary audience, including inspiring keynote lectures and many oral and poster presentations during the 3-days conference and the pre-conference ESMAC gait course, seminars and a symposium on different topics. During the conference, the keynote speakers Tim Theologis, George Georgoulis and Łukasz Kidziński will share their clinical and/or technical knowledge with the ESMAC audience. The honoured Baumann lecture, in memory of Prof. Baumann, will be presented by the former ESMAC chair Sebastian Wolf. During the three-day preconference gait course, a multidisciplinary international team of experts in gait analysis will guide the attendees through the techniques and interpretation of gait analysis for research and clinical practice. During these days preceding the conference, we also plan four seminars that will focus on Smart gaming for rehabilitation, on markerless motion analysis, on alterered muscle function in children with cerebral palsy and on musculoskeletal modeling. 

The whole event (preconference seminars, gait course, symposium, welcome cocktail & main conference) will be hosted in Royal Olympic Hotel, in the heart of Athens and next to historical sights (Acropolis of Athens, Hadrian’s Arch, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Zappeion Hall, National Garden, Panatheniac Stadium, etc). It would be a privilege to run with us to support the Brave Kids of ELEPAP, as well as their families. We also invite you to explore the Athenian nightlife, the local kitchen and the lovely Athenian Riviera.  

We hope that many scientists, physicians, physical therapists, biomedical engineers will be able to join ESMAC 2023 as a multidisciplinary audience to exchange knowledge, ideas and friendship in the ESMAC community. We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful city.
